Electronics Day Tomorrow!

Dear Parents & Guardians,

Our class has surpassed 1000 Dojo points for being proactive!  This means that we get a reward day.  The students have chosen to have an electronics day, where they are allowed to bring an electronic to use in the classroom at an appropriate time.  These electronic devices will be kept safely locked up when we are not in class and they will not be allowed outside.  If that is okay with you, then please send a device with your child.  If not, no problem!

Have a great Wednesday!

Research!

Today was a great day!  We found out more and more about insects and other creatures in our research and we are almost ready to present our information.  Some people are already ready.  We will start presenting tomorrow.

In gym we played a new game called "Mansions".

We also wrote in our Math Journals for the first time.  It was all about equal and not equal.  Do you know what that is?  Ask me all about it.

Fun Day!

Parent-Teacher Conferences are today and tomorrow from 3:30 to 6.

We had a good day today because we did lots of Math.  We got to finish some things and do some new things about equal and not equal.

Today we had lots of fun at gym.  We played What Time is it Mr. Werewolf and Dog and Bunny.

We read to ourselves for 12 minutes during Read to Self!  That's a record!  We also did listening to reading with RazKids.

We started filling our portfolios today too.

Fun in Gym

We had a guest P.E. teacher today. We are working on our Science projects. We had a lot of fun.

Tomorrow and Thursday are Parent-Teacher Conferences.

We will start our Home Reading Program this week using RazKids.  Our field trip is two weeks from today!

How High River was Made!

Today we got to see Mr. Holmes who was a guest speaker.  He told us about what happened when High River was made.  There were only three buildings in High River when it started in 1886, 129 years ago!  High River was named because of the high trees at the river.  High River has lots of names from its history.

Some people had show and tell today.

We have to remember to bring our Student-Teacher Journal and our take home folder back to school tomorrow if we forgot it today!

See you at Parent-Teacher Conferences on Wednesday and Thursday.

Friday 16 October 2015

Whew...Friday!

Today we got to vote like adults do on Monday.  We went to the library and had our name checked off and then we marked our ballots and put them in boxes.

We also worked on our Science projects to try to find answers to our questions.  Lots of us found some answers, but we also found out that sometimes it's hard to find answers.  Mrs. Leavitt thinks our questions are interesting.

Have a good weekend!

Thursday 15 October 2015

Tomorrow we have to bring our Student-Teacher Journal back.  Hot lunch is tomorrow too!  Yay!

Next week is Parent-Teacher Conferences.  Be sure to sign up!

Lots of us in class love to be on the swings and got to do that today at recess.  We had lots of fun at recess.  In math we got to build houses for a trick question.  In Social Studies we got to act out what it was like in the olden days.

We are working on being proactive which is doing the right thing even when no one is watching.  We are pretty good at it, but still need to do a bit of work.  :)

Wednesday 14 October 2015

Today in gym and we played bridge tag.  We also practiced passing balls.  It was fun!  We read to ourselves and to someone else in Daily 5 and had fun.  We also got to read our writing to the class if we wanted.

In Science we started our bug projects.  We also learned something interesting about worms!  Ask me about it.  We have lots of questions to think about for our projects.

It's library day tomorrow so we need to remember to bring our books back.

Parent-Teacher Conferences are coming up next week.  Sign up for a time here:

Tuesday 13 October 2015

Welcome back!  Today we worked on our independence during Daily 5 and Math.  We did a great job!

In Social Studies we read "Little House on the Prairie".  It was exciting because the family almost lost everything when they had to ford a river with their horses and wagon.  Soon we are going to have a guest speaker come talk to us about High River and how it began.

We had a good day.

Thursday 8 October 2015

Happy Thanksgiving!  We finished our Turkey cards today. We did lots of fun stuff today - recess, gym, and catch up with our learning.  Some people even got to change their monsters on Class Dojo. (That's a program where we keep track of using our 7 Habits.  Be proactive!)  Show and Tell is on Tuesday next week.

Have a gobbledy-great extra long weekend!

Tuesday 6 October 2015

Lovely Tuesday

Today we started to make turkey cards for Thanksgiving because it's a short week.  We finished our petroglyph pictures for Social Studies.  We are thinking about things that bring communities together.   We can't wait for our field trip to Heritage Park on Tuesday, November 3!  We are excited about writing about things that interest us.  We had fun today!

Monday 5 October 2015

Cool Monday! :)

Today we had a lot of fun!  We had picture day.  Some people shared for Show and Tell.  We had gym with a different teacher.

For science we went on the computers to make our own bugs.  Some people made scary bugs and some people made cute bugs.

We also did a fabulous job during Daily 5.  We started our Student-Teacher Journals!  Look in my Take Home Folder.  :)

It is picture day tomorrow for anyone who did not get theirs done today.

Friday 25 September 2015

Welcome to our first blog post!  This week we continued to learn about bugs and other small crawling and flying animals.  We also began to learn more about increasing patterns and worked hard on our reading.

We are excited about our upcoming trip to Heritage Park.  The date has been changed, however, from October 6 to November 3 because of some scheduling issues.  (Sorry about that!)
